Don Lupe is run by a family: wife, husband and son. They've been in Nelson County for 10 years and in Virginia for 20, and have run Mexican restaurants their whole lives. They brought everything they know, and the cooking of home, to Nellysford.
The kitchen
The chef
He runs the kitchen, with more than 15 years of cooking authentic Mexican food. The traditional dishes of Jalisco and Guanajuato share the menu with the Tex-Mex plates many guests grew up with.
Everything is made in house: the corn tortillas, the salsas, the chorizo and the al pastor.
Operations & front of house
The owner
She runs the business and the dining room, from the schedule and the suppliers to the moment you walk in the door.
She is the warm welcome at the front, the one making sure your table, your order and your night all go right. Planning a birthday or a family gathering? She is the one who makes it happen.
Customer relations
Their son, age 3
He runs customer relations and entertainment. He is also the inspiration for the little guy in the sombrero on our logo.
Where we're from
From Jalisco and Guanajuato to Route 151.
The family's roots are in Jalisco and Guanajuato, in the heart of Mexico. That is where the traditional side of the menu comes from, made the way it is made at home.
